Here they are, the Clessidra socks from Knitty. These took me most of the summer, knitting on and off, basically because there was so much sock to knit. All that's left is to block them a bit to even out a couple rough spots.

I love the pattern. It's rhythmic, elegant, and not nearly as hard as it looks. It's knit-able while watching TV or RPing, and it's easy to keep track of.

Bottom line: these are awesome socks. If you like socks, knit them. You won't be disappointed.

Technical stuff: Knit on size US2 needles with about 2.5 skeins of KnitPick's Gloss in Woodland Sage (merino wool/silk blend).

Beautiful socks! Yet another sock pattern to add to my "patterns to do Some Day" list... i've done several pairs (and one day i'll upload 'em here) and i have done cables, so it's about time i combined the two, yes? :)

Thanks! ^_^ And I'd say yes, definitely. Cables + socks, while a bit small and fiddly, are wonderful things.

These are beautiful... and they look soooo comfortable! I have never knit socks (and probably won't) because I would hate to have to cover up my handiwork with shoes. Especially if it was fabulous work like this!

Wow, you're amazing! Was the cabling or what-not difficult? Really nice job!

Thanks! :) The cables weren't too hard, but sometimes the side ones were fiddly because of the small gauge.

Aren't they? I definitely recommend investing in a good, soft yarn if you decide to make them. :)

I actually spin my own yarn ;) I'll probably get some really good superwash merino. I'll have to learn how to spin a little thiner though. Right now I'm spinning thin enough to use size 6 needles.

Oooh, I'm jealous! :XD: I haven't learned how to spin yet. Then again, I don't know where I'd store the materials, let alone a spinning wheel...

I learned how to spin January of this year. I actually spin on a drop spindle was is small and portable. Here is an example of my spinning. [link] It is a lot of fun when you get to control how your yarn looks and feels. :)
